Building Self-Healing Communities is about investing in the people who have the most at stake—especially people affected by ACEs-- so they can be expert leaders of their own community’s change. We live at a time of great hope and promise – the greatest public health discovery of our time is about us. The ACE Study provides a discovery – a common framework and language – that we can use to profoundly improve the health and well being of our society now and for future generations to come.

Tom Gonzalez has lived in the Brainerd area with his wife Paula for 6 years. He moved here to minister as the pastor at Pointway Church in Baxter. Recently he started a new endeavor taking employment at Bridges of Hope in Brainerd working on reducing Adverse Childhood Experiences. Tom has his Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from Crown College in Pastoral Ministry and Church Leadership, respectively, and is currently working on his doctorate at Bethel Seminary researching ACEs and their effects on resiliency in pastoral ministry
